£ 60,000 will be awarded as a grant in order for the recipient to carry out a research project that is linked to an African center of scientific excellence which would be normally a university, or equivalent research center. the grant is intended to cover the costs of the research project except for the awardees own salary .a further £ 5.000 pounds will be given as a prize to the recipient. The nomination for the e Royal Society Pfizer Award will be assessed by the Royal Society Biological Sciences Medals and Award Committee. The committee recommends to council the recipient of the award.
